Edwardsville School District #7 Kid Zone Childcare Counselor
District 7 Kid Zone is looking for enthusiastic childcare counselors to work with children across grades K-5 in our before and after school child care program located in District 7 elementary schools. Great opportunity to build experience working with grade school children in areas such as recreation, arts/crafts, and social games. Will work with your class schedule to fit shifts for position.
Shifts: 6:15-9:00 am & 3:15 - 6:00 pm Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:00pm Wednesday afternoons.
Additional shifts to work full day sessions on holidays when District 7 schools are closed will be available. Opportunities to work in our Summer Zone summer camp program as well as continued employment in our Kid Zone program for future school years.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains supervision, safety, and well-being of diverse children in large group setting.
- Takes direction and completes tasks given by supervisors.
- Ability to work independently (self-motivated) and as a team member.
- Facilitates indoor and outdoor activities including material prep and clean-up accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assures efficient transitions between activities.
- Monitors children’s behaviors continuously, encouraging appropriate behavior and addressing inappropriate behavior.
- Completes reports and records accurately and promptly.
- Maintains cleanliness of areas of use, care, and inventory of materials.
- Adhere to all work rules and Board policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
- Completed criminal background and history check through the Illinois State Police and FBI and checks of the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, the National Sex Offender Registry, and Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System
- Provide evidence of physical fitness to perform duties assigned and freedom from communicable disease in accordance with Section 24-5 of the School Code
- Required to obtain, within 90 days of employment, and maintain a certification in Child and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED
- Required to complete, within 90 days of employment, Illinois Department of Human Services required training
- Required to work at any/all 8 Kid Zone sites in the District as scheduled
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Five shift minimum availability
