As a Residency Assistant for Digital Media Academy’s Global Innovation Race, you will be instrumental in creating an environment where students can explore, innovate, and collaborate on real-world challenges. Your responsibilities will focus on safeguarding and enhancing social interaction during critical hours from roughly 5-10 pm and 7-10 am. This includes ensuring students’ safety and well-being while fostering opportunities for meaningful engagement. Your proactive approach ensures students have the support and resources necessary to thrive during their immersive learning experience.
Job Type: Full-time, in-person (July 21-31) in UC Berkeley
What you will be responsible for:
- Working as part of the Residency Team to ensure a smooth and successful evening residency experience for participating students, chaperones, and other staff members during Global Innovation Race.
- Following and upholding all Digital Media Academy policies and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding while at Global Innovation Race.
- Fostering a vibrant community atmosphere among students, chaperones, and staff, ensuring inclusivity and support while overseeing the execution of evening social activities. These may include fireside chats, team-building exercises, and other social events to empower students to develop their relationship-building skills and forge lasting connections.
- Cultivating a learning atmosphere where students feel empowered to explore their relationship-building skills through organizing and facilitating our Fireside Chats Series and leading team-building and social activities.
- Delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining open lines of communication with students, parents, and program partners, promptly addressing any inquiries or concerns that may arise.
- Working with the Residency Team to ensure daily transportation to and from Stanford University and other related program sites is conducted timely and efficiently.
- Collaborating closely with the UC Berkeley accommodation staff to ensure that students have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable living experience, addressing any accommodation-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Facilitating clear and effective communication among program staff and group chaperones, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to achieving program goals and objectives.
Who you are:
- You have prior experience in overnight residential programs.
- You have experience working with students, ages 13-17, from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- You have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- You have a passion for education, innovation, and social impact, with a desire to empower the next generation of global leaders.
- You are authorized to work in the state of California, United States.
Position requirements and commitments:
- Able to work full-time on-site from July 21-31 in UC Berkeley
- Required to stay at UC Berkeley during the program’s duration with check-in on July 21st and departure on July 31st.
- Flexible with work hours, as the position will require overseeing evening activities and weekend excursions.
- Breakfast and Dinner provided
- The selected candidate must undergo a Fingerprint Criminal Records Check and complete all compensated pre-program training and onboarding, including CPR certification, Child Safeguarding, and virtual and on-site Training.
