Requirements
*CMA or RMA
*All New Hires are required to be COVID 19 vaccinated
Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
What you'll do on a typical day as a Medical Assistant:
- Greets arriving patients & answers incoming calls in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
- Assesses whether patients have special or immediate needs and sees that these needs are met.
- Verifies insurance eligibility via patient’s insurance card and other ID.
- Generates patient prescription requests for electronic approval and transfers from physician to pharmacy.
- Keeps desk, reception, and waiting area tidy and free from trash; redistributes waiting room reading materials; and disinfects surfaces daily.
- Able to perform but not limited to triage assessment of patients for visits.
- Takes and records vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse temperature, pulse ox), reason for visit and processing of pending orders in the electronic medical record.
- Assists physicians in all types of appointments (complete physical, PAP, ear lavages, rectal exams).
- Provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients during their office visit by communicating the status of their provider with step by step explanations of procedures that will be performed.
- Guides the patient through the appointment process answering any questions they may have.
- Performs ECGs, therapeutic soaks, bandaging, wound care, and oxygen application.
- Cleans and stocks exam rooms between daily appointments and at the end of the day.
- Other job duties may be assigned based on patient volume and needs of the practice.
What you'll need to be successful as a Medical Assistant:
- High School diploma or equivalent or technical school certificate required
- Minimum 2 years of MA experience working in a healthcare environment
- CMA/RMA/CNA Certification
- CPR Certification
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Adoptable, proactive, and quality-focused
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Prior experience with Athena EMR system is desired
- Phlebotomy experience required
