Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Acro Dance Instructor to join our faculty for the Fall 2025 session. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both dance and acrobatic technique and can effectively teach strength, flexibility, balance, tumbling, and acro skills within a dance context.

This instructor will create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment while ensuring all students progress safely and confidently. Collaboration with the Artistic Director is expected to ensure choreography and curriculum align with student needs and performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly Acro Dance classes to students ages 6–18, from beginner to intermediate levels
  • Instruct students in foundational acro skills including flexibility, balance, strength, tumbling, and transitions
  • Develop and maintain a safe classroom environment, using appropriate spotting and progressions
  • Choreograph for performances such as the Christmas Gala, Spring Recital, and community events
  • Track student progress and adjust instruction based on skill level and individual needs
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff
  • Attend faculty meetings, rehearsals, and required trainings or orientations

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Acro Dance in a studio or performance setting
  • Knowledge of safe spotting techniques, proper progressions, and injury prevention
  • Background in acrobatics, gymnastics, and/or dance preferred
  • Ability to work with diverse students and support their development at all levels
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred
  • Background check required prior to hire
  • Evening and weekend availability

Schedule & Compensation

  • 2–3 classes per week, with  3 - 6 hours of teaching time, depending on enrollment
  • Competitive hourly rate, based on experience
  • Additional choreography or guest opportunities may be available
