Part-time Administrative Coordinator

Louisiana State Archives - Imaging and Preservation Administrative Coordinator - Part-Time Position

Description

This position is located within the Imaging and Preservation Department section of the Louisiana State Archives, a division of the Secretary of State. The incumbent will report to the Imaging and Preservation supervisor.

Under close supervision, the incumbent will perform a range of digital imaging and microfilming assignments. Incumbents in this position will participate in the operation of scanning equipment, operation of manual and computerized microfilm equipment and perform related functions to support microfilming services, as well as digital imaging projects.

Duties:

Microfilming

·        Performs document processing to remove adhesives and metals, using best practices.

·        Converts paper documents into electronic images for storage and retrieval by scanning documents using an imaging system.

·        Operates microfilm processing equipment.

·        Performs routine maintenance on microfilm machine equipment.

·        Conduct quality assurance of scanned images, and take appropriate steps to correct any error or misreads

·        Develop microfilm.

·        Maintain logs, production records, and complete simple reporting as needed.

·        Performs related work as assigned.

·        Training will be provided.

Digital Imaging

·        Responsible for the conversion of archival materials using scanning and photography equipment.

·        Careful handling of fragile documents, using best practices.

·        Scanning each page of each document, book or other archival item.

·        Ensuring scans meet quality standards

·        Tracking scanning progress.

·        Troubleshooting basic scanning or PC issues.

·        Training will be provided.

Successful candidates must be well organized, self-motivated, and capable of handling documents and archival material with care. Experience working with scanning and photography equipment is not required.
