Overview:

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with Tennessee State Parks? Our Tennessee State Parks are among the most beautiful parks in the United States. This position is at Pickett CCC Memorial State Park, northeast of Jamestown, in Pickett County on the Cumberland Plateau, and is adjacent to the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.  Pickett has historic CCC structures, rental cabins, a campground, a group camp, a visitor center, picnic shelters, and more than 20 miles of hiking trails. The park provides oversight of Pogue Creek Canyon and Colditz Cove State Natural Areas and offers immersive experiences through multiple outdoor and backcountry opportunities.

This position has a variety of responsibilities, including the requirement of a candidate to have a flexible work schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree with preferred degrees in Natural Resources, Park and Recreation Management, History, or a related field and experience in natural/cultural resources and/or parks and recreation management. It is also a requirement that the candidate be a state-commissioned officer recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy or is willing to become commissioned. Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Provide for the safety and security of park resources and guests and enforce park rules and regulations.
  • Manage assigned operational responsibilities and assist park team with management of all operations and visitor services.
  • Support Park and natural area goals of resource protection and management in invasive removal, restoration of natural and cultural areas, and visitor education of resource significance.
  • Trail construction and maintenance. 
  • Provide interpretive programming experiences related to the park story and mission, with emphasis on the park’s CCC history and natural resources.
  • Assist with safety and security on state forest property.
