Seasonal Wildlife Associate

Join the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and play a vital role in helping visitors connect with nature while supporting native wildlife care efforts. As a Seasonal Wildlife Associate, you'll assist with public engagement and the day-to-day operations of the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center-providing a unique blend of customer service, wildlife triage support, and clerical responsibilities.

What You'll Do

• Welcome and assist visitors in person, over the phone, and via email.
• Answer the Wildlife Hotline and provide guidance on injured or orphaned animals, nuisance wildlife, and natural history questions.
• Support daily clinic operations, including processing wildlife admissions and performing safe animal handling during intake.
• Perform general office tasks like data entry, mailings, filing, and recordkeeping.
• Help maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely updates to animal charts.
• Promote a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following all safety protocols.

What You'll Need

• Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
• Experience with animal handling preferred.
• Natural history knowledge preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• Social and situational perceptiveness.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Coordination when dealing with and working with others.
• Ability to deal effectively with the public.

Schedule & Pay

• $15.00 per hour
• 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM shift
• Work either Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday or Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (includes one weekend day)
• Position runs through September 2025

Work Setting

• This role is based at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center, in Glen Ellyn, IL..
• Work includes both indoor administrative duties and direct contact with wildlife and the public.
