Communications Manager

Position Title: Communications Manager
Location: Montebello and Los Angeles, CA
Reports To: Co-Director
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000 DOE (Depending on Experience)

Position Overview

A New Way of Life Reentry Project is seeking a passionate and strategic Communications Manager to lead and implement communications initiatives that amplify our mission and expand our reach. This role will oversee the organization’s media relations, digital presence, marketing, and internal communications to ensure brand consistency and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies, incorporating media relations, digital content, and marketing campaigns.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the communications team to achieve department goals and foster professional development.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of messaging and branding across all internal and external communication platforms.
  • Oversee the development and dissemination of communications materials, including press releases, newsletters, social media content, and marketing collateral.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with national, regional, and local media outlets to generate positive media coverage.
  • Manage and enhance the organization’s digital footprint, including the website, social media, and online content archives.
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in communications, with demonstrated team leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of grammar and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of media relations and digital communications strategies.
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and WordPress.
  • Skilled in photography, videography, and graphic design.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission and to serving marginalized communities.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate must reside in the Los Angeles area
  • Must have reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance for travel to events or meetings as needed
