Afterschool Group Leader/Teacher

We are seeking a creative, warm, and proactive Afterschool Group Leader/Teacher to join our team at HomeBASE.

Hours: Monday–Thursday 1:30–5:30 PM Friday 12:30-5:30PM (aligned with Brookline Public Schools calendar)

Position Type: Part Time, Non-exempt Employee

Start Date: August 25, 2025

Reports To: Afterschool and Enrichment Programs Director

Compensation: $23 - $25/hour, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities include but are not limited to…

  • Supervise and lead a group of K–5 students daily and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt activities for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
  • Model respectful behavior and nurturing care.
  • Support in creating and facilitating arts, sports, and STEM activities and projects.
  • Participate in daily walking bus transporting students safely from local schools.
  • Maintain positive communication with families, co-workers, and program leadership.
  • Assist with set-up, clean-up, and ensure smooth daily operations.

Core Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in educational or enrichment settings.
  • Familiarity with child development and ability to adapt for diverse learners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass background and fingerprint checks.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must meet one of the following: have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree and have three months of experience working with school age children OR have a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program OR have nine months of experience with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age childcare program.

  • Stamina and physical ability to walk 30 consecutive minutes (walking bus)
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, see and hear to supervise children, lift, climb. Squat, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, push/pull, etc.

  • Earned Sick Time: Part time Employees earn one (1) hour of Earned Sick Time for every 30 hours of work.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR training (training provided onsite for staff)
