Quality Engineer Intern

Job Summary

Amphenol is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Engineering Intern to join our quality assurance team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in quality engineering within a leading global interconnect solutions provider. The intern will work closely with our quality engineers and managers to support quality control, assurance, and improvement initiatives across various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Control and Inspection: Assist in conducting inspections and quality control checks on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products. Ensure products meet specified standards and customer requirements.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze quality data, including defect rates, process variations, and customer complaints. Use statistical tools to identify trends and root causes of quality issues.
  • Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement projects by analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and assisting in the implementation of quality enhancements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and quality records. Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Compliance and Standards: Assist in ensuring that products and processes comply with relevant quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, IPC). Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Help in conducting root cause analysis for quality issues and non-conformances. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality problems.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Support the evaluation and monitoring of supplier quality performance. Assist in conducting supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Quality Training: Participate in quality training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of quality principles and best practices.
  • Customer Feedback: Assist in addressing customer feedback and complaints. Work with the quality team to investigate issues and develop solutions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to support quality initiatives and ensure product quality.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic understanding of quality control and assurance principles.
    • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and standards.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
    • Knowledge of quality tools such as Six Sigma, 8D, or SPC is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze quality data and identify trends and root causes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to document and present quality information clearly.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in conducting inspections and analyzing data.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently as required.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a dynamic work environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Previous internship or project experience in quality engineering or a related field.
