Roblox Game Development Intern

About Center 1968

Center 1968 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and empowering Black women in civic leadership, policy, and politics. We are launching a new, immersive Roblox experience that will serve as a virtual civic learning hub and storytelling space for youth across the globe. Think: Black Girl Magic meets digital democracy.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a creative, skilled, and mission-driven Roblox Game Development Intern to support the build-out of Center 1968 in Roblox. You’ll help design an interactive world that brings our training programs, political history exhibits, and leadership simulations to life.

Responsibilities

Assist in building and scripting interactive elements using Roblox Studio and Lua (e.g., custom rooms, user dialogue, voting booths, training zones)

Translate real-world civic activities into playable, engaging game experiences

Collaborate with our leadership team to align builds with our mission and aesthetic

Conduct quality testing and propose improvements

Research popular Roblox mechanics and UX strategies to inform design decisions

Contribute creative ideas for events, simulations, and monetization features (game passes, premium perks, etc.)

 

 Ideal Candidate

Strong familiarity with Roblox Studio and Lua scripting

Passion for social impact, civic education, or Black history

Portfolio or examples of past Roblox projects (can be personal or academic)

Comfortable collaborating remotely and taking creative direction

A problem-solver with attention to detail and visual creativity

Bonus: Experience with UI design, storytelling, or educational game development

 

Internship Details

Time Commitment: 8–12 hours/month (flexible)

Location: Remote

Compensation: Stipend provided

Start Date: July or August 2025

End Date: Flexible (based on project progress and academic calendar)
