The Target Pay Range typically considered for this position is $75,768.00-$110,556.00 (Range of Consideration) annually.  The Full Pay Range for this WMS Band is $66,936.00-$122,844.00 (Full band range) annually. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education or training.   Should an offer of employment be made, your individual qualifications will be considered.

Are you interested in creating solutions?  Do you have a passion for being innovative?  Join L&I, an employer of choice, as a Workers’ Compensation Systems Modernization (WCSM) Risk & Governance Project Manager.  As part of the WCSM team, you will help transform and modernize the L&I Workers’ Compensation businesses processes and technologies for the entire agency.

Our ideal candidate for this role will use Lean principles and other project management tools to transform and manage the WCSM risk and governance management processes.   As a WCSM Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of solutions that provide value that supports the agency's services to customers and L&I staff within Washington State. Your days will be spent collaborating with business and Information Technology groups, agency stakeholders, WCSM project managers and project directors as well as with parties external to the agency to enact the agency’s WCSM strategic project.

 

We need a dynamic individual that will serve as project manager with a focus on risk management and governance coordination on a multi-million-dollar, agency-wide project that has a high-level risk, severity and visibility to internal and external stakeholders. The success of this project is critical to the agency’s mission.

 

Duties

Some of what you’ll do

  • Manage workstreams required to achieve critical strategies aligned with the mission of the division and enterprise. You will be responsible for achieving goals and objectives relevant to the project, managing and producing quality deliverables, and ensuring the project meets scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality expectations, while creating value for our customers.
  • Ensures the WCSM Project has a strong operating risk and issue management approach.
  • Responsible for the overall project risk and issue management, ensuring the project team is following the agreed upon approach.
  • Serve as expert advisor to Executive Sponsor, Project Director, and Deputy Project Director for mitigation of escalated risks associated with IT, Business, Customer, contracts, and budget.
  • Manages WCSM Governance activities and processes, ensuring the project is aligned with the approved Governance structure and recommendations.
  • Provide daily guidance for project team members that includes leading, mentoring, and directing a variety of staff as needed.
  • Use tools and techniques available through agency resources, PMI standards, and LEAN methods to ensure efficient fact based decision-making.
  • Provide reliable and professional advice to the WCSM Project Office and executive management as it relates to the implementation of risk, issue, and governance management.
  • Plan, lead, and organize daily project work performed by project work stream leads throughout the project, performing resource analysis, and identifying project risks/needs, as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Five (5) years’ of experience practicing industry best practices, methodologies, and principles of project management

Or  

  • A Bachelor's degree and
  • Three (3) years of experience practicing industry best practices, methodologies, and principles of project management

Or  

  • A Bachelor’s degree and
  • Three (3) years of serving in a formal role (such as a Business Analyst, Project Coordinator, Workstream Lead) within projects, and
  • One (1) year applying industry best practices, methodologies, and principles of project management

 

Desired:

  • Five (5) or more years of project management experience with a government (public) agency
  • Formal training in project management methodologies as part of an accredited degree program or hold an industry recognized certification
  • Change-management certification
