High School English Teacher
F.D. Roosevelt High School, part of the Hyde Park Central School District, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our team for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering literacy and critical thinking skills in students and be committed to creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in English Language Arts to students in grades 7–12.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that reflect New York State Next Generation ELA Learning Standards.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and adjusting instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student achievement and school goals.
Incorporate instructional strategies that support English Language Learners and students with varying learning needs.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
Communicate regularly with families and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Participate in professional development and school community events.
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid New York State Teacher Certification in English 7–12
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with high school students
Preferred:
TESOL/ENL Certification or experience working with English Language Learners
Familiarity with digital learning platforms and integrating technology into instruction
Familiarity with restorative practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
