Caretaker II is required to live on site, where housing is provided. The Balarat campus is located in the foothills near Jamestown, CO.

Provides support for all aspects of facility care at the Balarat campus, buildings and grounds, which include 750 acres of land, 12 miles of trails, two miles of roads, 22,000 square feet of heated structures, 28 outbuildings, two high challenge courses and three water systems including 10 wells and three wastewater systems.

What You'll Do:
• Performs general grounds care; cleans-up trash, fences, approaches, entrances and exits and keeps all areas free of unauthorized obstructions; shovels snow; salts and sand icy walks and steps
• Helps with trail building and maintenance, erosion control and revegetation, weed control, defensible space; provides fire prevention, readiness and initial response
• Assists with road maintenance to include snow removal, sanding, ditching, grading, culvert cleanout and replacement and resurfacing; assists school buses during inclement weather
• Assists with, building, maintenance and repair, equipment check and replacement of Challenge Courses
• Assists with overall building maintenance, repair and operation to include HVAC systems, basic plumbing and electrical, appliances, roofing, doors, windows, and paint; constructs and maintains all accessory outbuildings/structures including doors, windows, siding and roofs, also stove cleaning, chimney sweeping, wood stocking and cleaning outhouses weekly
• Maintains toilet fixtures, flushes floor drains, unstops clogged drains; replaces broken and burned-out fluorescent tubes and bulbs; maintains boilers; checks, operates and maintains facility heaters, pumps and filters; checks and regulates temperature, pH, and chlorine content of water; replaces and/or cleans filters; cleans air ducts; adjusts univents
• Assists with maintaining water systems and wells, including routine monitoring and treatment, inspections, and repairs; cleans fresh water well and disposal systems, as required; assists with wastewater systems, including routine inspections and maintenance, assisting contractors, maintaining required state licensing
• Performs general cleaning and custodian services in all buildings, lounges, bathrooms, concession areas, cafeterias, stairs and corridors, as assigned
• Assists with the basic repair, preventative maintenance and safe operation of all supporting equipment to include grader, backhoe, dozer, trucks, ORV’s, mixer, chipper and splitters as well as small equipment, such as generators, pumps, chainsaws etcs.; performs scheduled and random audits of facility operating equipment, rooms and other areas to verify and document safety compliance; checks fire extinguishers, ladders, scaffolding and initiates safety checks as necessary for any equipment and promptly reports unsafe conditions immediate supervisor, event coordinators and associated personnel
• Participates in fire and civil defense drills and maintains a current state of emergency preparedness, including immediate access to names and phone numbers to be called in the event of an emergency; provides site security, emergency contact and response and maintains good working relationships with adjacent land owners; ensures the general security of all buildings and grounds, securing doors, windows and gates when facility closes or as required or requested
• Leads on site management areas as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Wilderness First Responder Certification required within six months of hire.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license or be able to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within the state’s required time frame for new residents and meet the District’s insurability requirements.
