What We’re Seeking: DATCP’s Division of Food and Recreational Safety is recruiting for a Program Assistant Supervisor – Advanced in the Bureau of Food & Recreational Businesses. 

Where We’re Located: The Prairie Oaks State Office Building is situated on Madison’s southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations. 

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee’s telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to work in Wisconsin.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Program Assistant Supervisor-Advanced position is responsible for managing and directing critical business processes for the Division of Food and Recreational Safety. Responsibilities include coordinating the renewal of licenses, processing and assignment of new applications, effectively supervising program support staff, serving as the division public records liaison, overseeing unit specific administrative & financial operations, retail, and recreational program agent reimbursements, providing quality customer service and records/forms (document control) management. In addition, work includes establishing unit work priorities, training, coaching, and evaluating the performance of subordinates and functionality of business systems. This position exercises a considerable amount of individual initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making ability, while maintaining confidentiality. The position also interacts frequently with other division work units, department divisions and external stakeholders.

The Program Assistant Supervisor-Advanced shall comply with the division’s administrative rules and policies and procedures including those related to the division's overall mission of ensuring safe food, lodging, and recreation by educating and regulating businesses in a fair, effective, and efficient manner.

SALARY INFORMATION

The classification for this position is Program Assistant Supervisor and is in pay schedule/range 81-04. The starting pay will be between $27.00 and $33.00 per hour based on qualifications.   

A 12-month probationary period is required.  Pay for current State employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

JOB DETAILS: 

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

  • Experience with formal and/or informal leadership, such as directing, assigning, and managing work of others.
  • Experience providing information to internal/external stakeholders regarding a process or payment information and/or rules/regulations. 
  • Experience researching information to come to a decision or next step (i.e.: administrative codes, laws, internet, policies, rules). 
  • Experience as a program expert and/or technical contact (liaison, industry expert, technical expert, etc.)
  • Experience working with computer databases and software programs (e.g., Microsoft CRM, HealthSpace, or similar) and Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word or SharePoint

     

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience interpreting and/or implementing statutes, rules, laws, etc. related to licensing and/or permitting of business and/or personal licenses
  • Experience serving in a formal supervisory role (including: resolving conflict, coaching, mentoring and empowering employees, evaluating employee performance, hiring, discipline, assigning work, etc.)
  • Experience working with applications, licensing programs, and/or performing financial tasks (payments, invoices, tracking, refunds, etc.).
