Assistant Principal, High School
The Manheim Central High School is seeking a dynamic instructional leader to serve as an Assistant Principal. This is a permanent, full-time, administrative position.
The position is responsible for serving as an educational leader that sets high expectations and promotes the success of all learners through: implementation and support of district goals and initiatives; the management of the day-to-day operation of the school; the supervision and evaluation of the professional and support staff; and the maintenance of open communication with parents and the community for the academic and personal growth of learners. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Under the direction of the principal, work to establish an organizational structure and educational programs that are conducive to creating conditions of success for all students to meet high educational standards.
- Practice and institutionalize, within the school, the concept of continuous improvement.
- Participate in the design, development, and regular review of the building’s comprehensive plan and aid in the establishment of annual priority goals and student learning objectives.
- Assist the principal in the recommendation of hiring appropriate and qualified staff to carry out district and building goals.
- Assist in evaluation and supervision of professional and non-professional staff.
- With the principal, provide a safe and orderly environment for student achievement and the continuing productivity of staff for the purpose of meeting strategic goals.
- Maintain communication and dialogue with personnel that serve within the school district to include probation, parole, social service, and emergency service agencies.
- Assist the principal in the development and monitoring of site budgets.
- Plan for and recommend professional development plans that meet the needs of individual staff members, as well as district priority goals and student instructional needs.
- Oversee and coordinate all testing at the local, state, and national levels involving high school learners.
- Serve as a public advocate for the school district and the children and youth who live in the school district.
- Maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and community agencies while looking for opportunities to create partnerships with other community service providers, when appropriate, to support the success of all children.
- Oversee the High School Online Learning Program by acting as the High School Online point person while collaborating with and reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Communicate regularly with online learners and families regarding in-take meetings, course updates, scheduling changes, and learner progress.
- Manage, support, and assist in the placement of online staffing, the specific building online schedules, facilitator compensation, and with needs of online facilitators with day to day operations.
- Commit to and demonstrate a future-focused mindset for course facilitation and the creation of additional courses to expand online learning at the High School level in order to create a robust and thriving Manheim Central Online Learning High School Program.
- Maintain and update policies and procedures, oversee the approval process with NCAA Clearinghouse and update the Online Learning Handbook at the High School level.
- Establish and maintain communication with IU 13 regarding courses by outside vendors, provide updates to Academic Committee and School Board as requested, and facilitate monthly meetings with the Association regarding Online Learning.
- Maintain an optimum relationship with other administrators and staff members, always mindful of the importance of confidentiality.
- Contribute to the effective team management of the school district in support of all short- and long-term objectives and strategies and serve on district level committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a master’s degree plus PA Principal’s certification and five to seven years of related experience. Strong technology skills are required as well as strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
The ability to relate to and function effectively with people of varying backgrounds and positions as well as the skill to communicate effectively is required. The incumbent must possess the ability to set district goals and objectives and to continually assess employee development. The possession of a positive and professional attitude toward duties and responsibilities is required as well as the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Evidence of high personal esteem is necessary.
