Summer Intern (8 weeks)

Shepherd Community Center is hiring 16 Summer interns (and 15 additional year-long fellows) to aid staff in facilaiting our Summer EXCEL Program. 

Housing provided. Most meals / food provided. 

Our Summer EXCEL Program needs people who are pursuing degrees in Social Work, Education, Child Development, and ministry. However, this internship is open to applicants of any major. 

Our Summer interns will work with our kids K-6th or 7-12th grade for 40 hours a week (for 8 weeks with a week of training included) in a class-room setting while also going on weekly field-trips and swim/outdoor days. 

This program is designed to help kids in our neighborhood retain what they learned during the school year and reduce the amount of their education that is lost over the three months of Summer. 

Throughout the duration of Summer EXCEL, our curriculum focuses on reading, writing, math, Bible themes, and interest-based topics. These key topics help our kids to not just eliminate learning loss but also to help them progress in their education and vision for their future.

With this internship, you will be immersed in mission on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis with a Live, Work, Worship community neighborhood perspective. Hoping is provided in community with the other interns/fellows with two daily meals provided. You will also enjoy weekly gatherings, activities around the city, and discipleship community with the internship team led by a staff that once to invest in you and your journey in Christ.
