Intern - Tax - Spring 2026

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Intern to join our team at Akamine, Oyadomari & Kosaki CPA's. As a Tax Intern, you will be responsible for assisting our tax professionals in preparing and reviewing tax returns, researching tax laws and regulations, and communicating with clients. This role will provide you with hands-on experience in tax preparation and compliance, as well as exposure to a variety of industries and clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax laws
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or work experience in tax or accounting
  • CPA candidate or eligibility
  • Experience with tax preparation software such as UltraTax
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary tax information and answer tax-related questions
  • Assist in the preparation of tax planning and consulting projects
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax projects

Skills:

As a Tax Intern, you will utilize your knowledge of accounting principles and tax laws to assist in the preparation and review of tax returns. You will communicate with clients to gather necessary tax information and answer tax-related questions, and conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax projects. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential to succeed in this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with tax preparation software such as UltraTax are preferred.
