Fall DC Internship - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall

Senator Marshall’s internship program provides college students with the opportunity to enhance their education while witnessing the inner workings of Congress. In a fast-paced office of the United States Senate, interns will gain firsthand knowledge of legislation and daily activities of the federal government.

Participation in the program allows interns the ability to gain valuable professional experience while increasing their knowledge of issues important to both Kansas and the country. They will develop relationships with other Congressional interns and staff while taking advantage of all the Washington D.C. area has to offer.

Internship positions are full or part-time. This position requires outstanding organizational abilities, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize. Ideal candidates are dependable, professional, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service.

Paid internships are offered throughout the year in three sessions: summer, spring and fall. The 2025 fall internship runs from August 18th to December 19th with flexibility based on the candidate’s schedule.

 

Intern Duties include but are not limited to:

-Giving Capitol tours 

-Assisting legislative staff with research

-Drafting letters

-Attending meetings with the Senator

-Attending committee hearings

-Writing memos 

-Compiling press clips

-Sorting mail

-Answering telephones

-Triaging casework

 

Interns may participate in activities outside of the office, including receptions of their interest, visiting the White House, the Botanical Gardens, getting a library card at the Library of Congress, and attending Supreme Court hearings.
