Postdoc Position in Cardiovascular Physiology - Dixon Lab - UC Davis

Dr. Rose Dixon in the Department of Physiology and Membrane Biology at the University of California Davis is recruiting for one postdoctoral scholar to work on projects related to  1) lipid regulation of cardiac excitation-contraction coupling and, 2) endosomal traffic jams in cardiac aging.  

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments independently.
  • Stay current with scientific literature in the field.
  • Assist in data collection for grant applications.
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to the mentoring of junior lab members.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or Ph.D. in Physiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a relevant field
  • Demonstrated research productivity through peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience in at least two of the following technical skills:
  • Patch clamp electrophysiology
  • Calcium imaging
  • Western blotting
  • Cell culture
  • Super-resolution imaging
  • Echocardiography
  • Confocal imaging
  • Cardiomyocyte isolation
  • TIRF imaging
  • Animal handling
  • Transfection techniques
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Salary: 

The posted UC salary scales  set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 23: Postdoctoral Scholar-Employee, Postdoctoral Scholar-Fellow, Postdoctoral Scholar-Paid Direct, Fiscal Year. The salary range for this position is $69,073 – 77,030. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.
