Associate Designer & Design Operations Manager

Tracy Morris Design, a premier interior design firm established in 2003, is seeking a multifaceted Associate Designer & Design Operations Manager to join our high-performing team. This hybrid role blends creative collaboration and operational oversight, supporting the design team in both the development and execution of high-end residential projects. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment—balancing design tasks, procurement, scheduling, and client communication with ease and precision.

Key Responsibilities:
Design & Creative Support:

  • Assist in the creation of design presentations, mood boards, and materials selections
  • Draft furniture plans, elevations, and design drawings in AutoCAD or equivalent software
  • Source furnishings, finishes, lighting, and materials that align with the project’s creative direction
  • Participate in client meetings and design reviews, taking notes and following up on action items

Project & Operations Management:

  • Track and manage all orders for furnishings, lighting, finishes, and materials
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm lead times, shipping status, and resolve any issues
  • Schedule and coordinate furniture deliveries and installations
  • Prepare and manage project timelines, procurement logs, and tracking documents
  • Handle client invoicing, vendor payments, and coordination with accounting
  • Liaise between designers, vendors, clients, contractors, and warehouse teams to ensure project flow
  • Oversee installation logistics and troubleshoot issues in real time
  • Maintain organized documentation and records for all operational activities

Qualifications:

  • The position is in-office; McLean, VA; no remote work offered.
  • The position is open for immediate occupancy; no long term, delayed start date
  • Degree in Interior Design, marketing, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in an interior design studio or similar environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay detail-focused in a fast-paced setting
  • A passion for both design and operational excellence
