General Duties/Description
The Health Sciences Immunization Program (HSIP) at the Husky Health Center (HHC) has an outstanding opportunity for a Student Employee position to support implementing and monitoring processes to ensure student compliance with immunizations and TB screening in accordance with CDC guidelines for healthcare workers, University of Washington policy, and federal, state, and local regulations. HSIP ensures compliance with immunization requirements for participating health sciences graduate and professional students. These programs include medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation medicine, laboratory medicine, physician assistant, social work, public health, and speech and hearing sciences. This position will provide compliance support under the general direction of permanent HSIP team members, during high workflow periods surrounding student registrations/deadlines, and providing baseline program services.
UW HSIP is currently seeking a Student Assistant to be part of our immunization compliance team.
- Hourly Rate: $20.76 per hour
- Workload: 19 hours per week based upon department needs
- Duration: Position will start Summer quarter 2025 and will continue until December 31, 2025
- Remote Work: Hybrid remote work allowed per supervisor decision.
The student position is supervised by the HSIP Manager and will work directly with the Program Specialist, providing support for the HSIP team by reviewing immunization records, approving or rejecting student immunization records. By efficient data entry and problem solving, the student assistant will be successful in providing accurate data for the HSIP team.
Job Functions
This position will involve data entry, working with online tools such as Microsoft Outlook and Teams, and various other projects as directed.
Data Entry
- Maintain proficiency in the knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases, immunization practices, and CDC recommended immunizations for health-care professionals.
- Monitor, analyze, and implement requirements and follow-up actions for student compliance with assigned requirements.
- Implement compliance requirements and follow-up actions through consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Communicate student non-compliance with health sciences programs and manage registration blocks.
- Perform quality analysis and protect integrity of information maintained in the HSIP’s web-based vendor systems. This is an essential duty to help ensure compliance with the CDC guidelines and health sciences affiliation agreements with practicum sites.
- Interface with various databases including the vendor database, and the UW student database to execute program functions.
- Maintain confidentiality for highly sensitive student records.
Collaboration
- Ability to meet with the team during weekly meetings
- Communicate with team members to discuss and ask questions regarding vaccine doses approval and rejection
Miscellaneous
- Possible assistance during vaccination events
- Other duties as assigned on an as-needed basis
Required Qualifications
- Current UW Seattle Graduate student in Environmental Health, Public Health or related field
- Independent decision-making, good attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize daily tasks.
- Able to work a part-time flexible schedule, as needed, to accommodate program fluctuations.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases and CDC recommendations
- Experience with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook)
- Able to learn new software and computer applications.
