IT Systems Analyst 2 (Justice IT Services)

The Justice Information Technology Services (JITS) team supports around 900 DOJ employees and more than 3,000 Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) users across the state. Our work empowers efforts across a wide range of vital programs, including:

  • Legal and criminal investigations
  • Missing persons and victim services
  • Children’s justice and consumer protection
  • Highway safety and motor vehicle operations
  • Gambling control, criminal history, and forensic science

We are looking for a skilled IT Systems Analyst who will be responsible for the development, implementation, support, and maintenance of the Department of Justice’s systems.

The incumbent will consult with managers and end users to determine the role IT systems play in their structures, will collect and analyze business and user requirements, and will make recommendations about IT enhancements and solutions.

Located in Helena, Montana

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform in-depth testing on system components to determine performance and diagnose system issues
  • Conduct research and propose technical solutions including implementing appropriate technical tools to troubleshoot and enhance those systems
  • Provide cost-benefit analyses
  • Oversee the installation, configuration and testing of new and existing systems
  • Design user acceptance testing plans, document the results and review with end-users to ensure the system meets requirements.
  • Help support, document and maintain the systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Three years of relevant experience supporting business needs with IT solutions
  • Other combinations of education, certification or experience my be substituted
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with multiple, varied IT systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and workflows
  • Ability to effectively analyze systems and business processes
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to determine best solutions and approaches to problems
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written, technical concepts in a way that is appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Knowledge of agency processes and procedures
  • Ability to understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage one’s own time
  • Ability to support and maintain IT systems
