Director of Worship
Wesley Park Church is looking for a Director of Worship to help curate meaningful worship experiences and help people grow in Christ through serving in worship arts and technical ministry.

About the Ministry Position
The Director of Worship is the spiritual and organizational leader responsible for working alongside the lead pastor to create engaging worship experiences that allow people to grow in their discipleship to Christ. They are also responsible for recruiting, training, and leading individuals to utilize their gifts and talents in all aspects of worship and technical worship support. They will succeed in this role by being adaptive, implementing innovative approaches, and ensuring a spiritually formative environment for all involved.
Worship Responsibilities
- Ensure all elements of worship experiences are well curated, serving as the point of accountability
- Call and lead regular worship planning meetings
- Lead Sunday morning worship huddle prior to morning services
- Work with Lead Pastor on long range seasonal planning
- Generate and administer annual budget for worship and music
- Create and maintain a master music and worship schedule for all volunteers
- Build volunteer teams by proactively getting to know the church community, discerning where volunteers are called to serve, and inviting them into the ministry
Music Responsibilities
- Serve as lead instrumental musician via appropriate lead instrument (piano, keyboard, or guitar)
- Serve as a resource and support to the staff leading children’s and youth music programs, which may include a summer program
- Provide musical leadership for special services, including weddings and funerals
- Maintain all church instruments, including arranging for tuning and repairs
Worship Production Responsibilities
- Serve as point of accountability for sound systems and other worship related technology, organizing contractors and ensuring general maintenance
- Lead the volunteer AV/Worship Support Team
Desired Experience, Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree (concentration in music, music performance, church music, or music education preferred but not required)
- Skilled musician (piano proficiency preferred)
- Experience in and appreciation of both traditional and modern worship styles
- Knowledge and understanding of modern worship, including emerging music styles and functions of a band leading worship
- Familiarity with the United Methodist Church and hymnals
- Experience with working with paid staff and volunteers
- Familiarity with sound systems and associated technology
- Strong relational, communication, and collaboration skills
Compensation & Expected Commitment
Wesley Park provides a competitive salary and some benefits. Salary for this position is $35,000-$40,000, commensurate with experience, with the expectation of 25 hours worked weekly.
