JOB SUMMARY: Develops and administers an employee health/wellness program and coordinates an employee health/wellness committee dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for employees.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    * Develops a planning process for the improvement of employee health and wellness.
    * Works with Human Resources benefits consultants and health insurance providers to obtain information concerning employee health statistics and prioritization of employee health issues.
    * Identifies key employee health issues and techniques to engage employees in health improvement areas.
    * Creates personalized workout routines as requested to help employees meet their personal fitness goals; modifies exercise plans to accommodate the different fitness levels of employees.
    * Manages the Pulaski County Wellness Center; ensures cleanliness of equipment and instructs employees on proper use of equipment. 
    * Coordinates a health / wellness committee, including representation from offices of elected officials and departments, to identify key issues and challenges to employees enjoying health lifestyles and increasing work engagement.  
    * Utilizes programs, training, and reinforcement tools available through benefit providers to motivate and promote health and wellness. 
    * Creates monthly challenges for employees to encourage participation in activities designed to promote good mental and physical health. 
    * Develops a written Wellness Plan outlining program goals and objectives, program components, and desired results; reviews and updates the plan annually.
    * Develops assessment methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the program from established baselines and metrics; implements changes as needed to improve results.
    * Writes and distributes a monthly employee newsletter promoting awareness of County services, programs, and activities.
    * Assists with benefit activities such as open enrollment, flu/covid vaccination clinics, and the employee appreciate banquet as needed. 
    * Ensures that the protected health information (PHI) of employees, benefit plan participants, and/or other individuals is maintained and transmitted in a secure and legally compliant manner. 
    * Presents an explanation of the County's Health and Wellness Program and related benefits as part of new employee orientation program.
    * Assists with processing benefit enrollments and changes and programming in the HRIS system as needed.
    * Provides general information to employees on FMLA, ADA, and Worker's Compensation; refers employees to the appropriate contact or vendor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:   Work is primarily performed in a smoke-free office environment.  Occasional travel to various County worksites and community locations is required.
 
 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
    *
         + Considerable knowledge of public health and wellness initiatives.
         + Considerable knowledge of marketing and public relations.
         + Good knowledge of the requirements of the HIPAA privacy and security rules. 
         + Ability to develop and write newsletters, reports, and wellness plans.
         + Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
         + Ability to conduct research and analyze data.
         + Ability to develop and coordinate programs and events geared toward the improvement of employee wellness.
         + Ability to develop personalized workout routines and modify exercises pertaining to the different fitness levels of employees. 
         + Ability to prepare persuasive speeches and presentations for employee groups.
         + Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with County employees, department directors, elected officials, health care providers, and community partners.
         + Ability to attend work regularly and reliably. 
         + Skill in the operation of a computer with basic office management and presentation software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook Live, and Zoom.
         + Skill in the operation of gym equipment. 
 
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    *
         + Ability to communicate effectively orally in person and in large groups.
         + Visual acuity is needed to obtain data from a computer monitor.
         + Manual dexterity is needed to operate a computer keyboard, and other audio/visual equipment.
         + Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 
         + Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in public health, marketing, public relations, or a related field; considerable experience with wellness, public health, or related program administration; or any combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
