Welcome Desk Attendant

We are only looking for SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR APPLICANTS—NO Freshmen, Seniors, or Grad Students.

Position Type: Part-time, approximately 12-15 hours per week

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM (Flexible shifts)

Attire: Business Casual

 

Position Overview:

The Oakland Center is seeking organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Welcome Desk Attendants. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they have a positive and welcoming experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Assistance:
    - Greet and assist guests with enthusiasm in a friendly and professional manner.
    - Be intentional in answering questions about room and event locations within the          Oakland Center (provide directions to various buildings around campus).
    - Provide support in navigating the Oakland Center’s resources and services.
    - The position also includes occasional support within the OC Administrative Office.

 

  • Lost and Found Management:
    - Maintain accurate records of lost and found items.
    - Valuable items should be turned into OUPD or the ID Card Office.

 

  • Charging Station:
    - Assist students with device charging stations and provide guidance as needed.

 

  • Facility Oversight:
    - Ensure the welcome desk and surrounding areas remain clean and organized.
    - Be aware of solicitors and familiar with building policies.
    - Be sure office supplies are stocked regularly

 

  • Communication & Organization:
    - Answer incoming calls, check messages, and respond promptly.
    - Demonstrate strong communication skills when coordinating shift coverage.
    - Be able to exhibit strong communication skills (phone, email, and in person)

 

Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a professional attitude
- Ability to remain focused and attentive—personal visits and homework are not
   permitted while on duty.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
- Sophomores or Juniors only
