Special Events Intern/Assistant

TITLE: Special Events Intern/Assistant

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer

CLASSIFIED: Summer Seasonal, Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: $14.50/hour

MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

JOB SUMMARY: The Special Events Intern/Assistant supports the Resource Development Team in the planning and execution of special events. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach. Responsibilities may include volunteer and donor tracking, ticket sales and promotion, event logistics, sponsorship tracking, marketing support, and general administrative tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Culture

  • Provide support, leadership, and creative problem-solving for assigned projects.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Attend and assist with all scheduled raffle events (exceptions may be discussed with the supervisor).
  • Help secure and coordinate in-kind donations (food, prizes, entertainment, etc.).
  • Assist with event set-up, tear-down, and logistical support across all sites.
  • Support donation pick-ups and supply drop-offs as needed.
  • Draft and submit post-event reports for supervisor review.

Administrative Support

  • Manage and track raffle ticket sales and related promotions.
  • Run and organize reports that support data-driven strategies for increasing participation.
  • Provide general office support, including mailings, filing, and database tasks.

Marketing & Public Relations

  • Represent and promote the Club’s mission in all communication formats.
  • Support marketing efforts, including drafting press releases and helping organize media appearances.
  • Create and distribute event marketing materials (flyers, signage, etc.).
  • Assist in the development of donor recognition pieces such as banners, videos, and thank-you gifts.

Team Engagement & Miscellaneous

  • Support other Club-wide initiatives and events, as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in discussions as directed by your supervisor.
  • Take on other duties as assigned in support of the team’s goals.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of higher education completed (preferred).
  • Interest in learning about fundraising, special events, or nonprofit marketing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods during events.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and perform light physical labor associated with event setup.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, during events.
  • Ability to travel between sites and locations as needed (reliable transportation required).
  • This position is considered safety-sensitive, and adherence to safety procedures is required at all times.
