Job Title: Construction Intern
Reports to: Construction Director

Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is a local, self-sustaining affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit organization that builds homes in partnership with families in need of safe, decent, affordable shelter.
Habitat Whatcom is committed to building homes, strengthening communities, and creating lasting impact for families and neighborhoods. Grant funding plays a central role in ensuring Habitat builds homes that are affordable for low-income Whatcom families.
Primary Responsibilities:
Projects:
- Support project management overall operations
- Assist with drafting funding applications to Whatcom County Economic Development Investment Fund for affordable housing developments
- Assist with drafting and submitting Building Permit Applications for affordable housing projects
- Assist with formatting standards of procedure for construction operations
- Assist in the development of inventory systems for construction tools and equipment
- Assist with formatting/formalizing Safety Program
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
- Basic understanding of urban planning concepts for municipal code and building permits
- Strong organization skills, as well as written and visual communication skills
- Familiarity with residential construction, experience with any part of the residential development process
- Experience with specialized database software, especially related to inventory management, scheduling, and project management
Timeline:
- Starting Tue July 21, open to extending through Fall Qtr
Weely Schedule:
- 20 hrs/week option (within regular m-f schedule)
- 40 hrs/week option
