Public Relations Assistant

PR Assistant

Location: Chicago, IL. 2 days a week in office

Classification: Salary and Exempt

Salary Range: 52,000-58,000

Job Description

Summary

In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to assist our teams in delivering exceptional client results and take your communications skills to the next level. You will be responsible for supporting account teams in daily activities as well as building and maintaining the foundational materials for client programs. You’ll be responsible for assisting in developing client-facing reports and participating in media outreach.

Essential Functions 

  • Assist in client media programs with research and identification of key media targets. You’ll closely tracking coverage, industry trends and breaking news that can be leveraged to generate media coverage, as well as provide recap notes and deliverables for client and team review
  • Craft pitches and initiate outreach to develop relationships with targeted publications and vertical outlets, under supervision 
  • Assist with social media research, monitoring, drafting content and identifying trends within industries 
  • Participate in the creation of weekly call updates for team and client review, taking note during weekly calls or in-person meetings and creating recaps/action items for internal review and client delivery
  • Contribute to team and client meetings, brainstorm and research for client programs
  • Collaborate with speaking and awards resources to maintain accurate client speaking and awards databases, ensuring they are updated consistently to reflect shifting deadlines, award results and client feedback on opportunities
  • Participate in agency training sessions to actively gain more public relations knowledge and increase skills within client relations and account teams
  • Prioritize and manage tasks independently as well as elevate complex problems to senior staff

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree required. Prefer degrees in Public Relations, Communications,2. Journalism or related field

Previous internship or similar work experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or related field required

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Expected Hours of Work

The position is paid salary semi-monthly and is exempt. Full time work of 40 hours per week with some extended hours expected.

Travel

Very limited travel may be expected in this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
