About You: You are a seasoned and highly motivated AI/ML Engineer with a passion for building innovative solutions that have a real-world impact. You have a strong track record of taking AI/ML projects from concept to production, ideally in a scaled environment, and you're excited to bring that experience to a dynamic and growing startup. You thrive in a collaborative setting, enjoy mentoring and sharing your expertise, and are eager to play a key role in shaping the future of AI at Grokker, particularly in enhancing the wellbeing of our members. You are comfortable with a hands-on coding role while also providing technical guidance and strategic input.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Proven track record of success in AI/ML development and deployment, typically gained through 5+ years of overall experience with at least 3+ years in a dedicated AI/ML role. Proven experience in building and deploying AI/ML solutions that have been used by real clients, ideally with exposure to the challenges and considerations of scaling AI systems. Strong proficiency in Node.js, with experience building and deploying production applications. Strong proficiency in Python and key AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Transformers). Hands-on experience with building and deploying applications leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and relevant AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock, EC2). A strong understanding of data privacy principles and a commitment to building privacy-focused solutions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Design). A desire to learn and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Responsibilities: Own AI/ML Solution Development: Take end-to-end ownership of the design, development, testing, and deployment of various AI/ML features, with a primary focus on our generative AI assistant, Grokky, and future AI-powered initiatives. Guide AI Technical Direction: Partner with the team to define the right technical approaches for our AI projects, leveraging your experience to ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term success. Contribute to Generative AI Initiatives: Participate in the technical roadmap and implementation of new features for Grokky, including exploring agentic systems and integrating AI into new areas of the Grokker platform. Support the Exploration of AI for Business Impact: Assist in investigating and implementing AI/ML techniques to analyze user data, generate actionable insights, and contribute to demonstrating the ROI of Grokker's key offerings. Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions and ensure seamless integration of AI features. Champion Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best practices in AI/ML development, deployment, and monitoring within the team. Contribute to Privacy and Compliance: Actively participate in building AI solutions with a strong focus on user privacy and be willing to learn and implement relevant data privacy regulations. Mentor and Share Knowledge: Serve as a valuable resource for the existing AI engineers, providing guidance and sharing your expertise to foster their growth.

Nice to Haves: Experience with agentic AI system design and implementation. Experience applying data science or machine learning techniques to derive business insights and measure ROI. Hands-on experience with MLOps tools and practices. Experience building and optimizing data pipelines for AI/ML. Enthusiasm for leveraging AI to improve user well-being and solve meaningful problems in the health and wellness space.
