Job Description and Duties
The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Materials Engineering and Testing Services (METS) is looking to hire a TPrecision Electronics Specialist (PES) in the Office of Quality Assurance and Source Inspection (QASI).
Under the supervision of the Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer the Precision Electronics Specialist, utilizing an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of precision electronic equipment (including accelerographic and data communications systems), is responsible for, but not limited to, structural monitoring and data communications technical system design; specification development; calibration; experimentation; testing; validation; integration; and performing special studies on technologically complex bridge and structure instrumentation.

Working Conditions
This position is located at 5900 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento CA
While at their base of operation, the employee will work in a climate-controlled office and laboratory under artificial lighting. Employee will be required to work with electrical/electronic equipment and components at a workbench or on a vehicle. Employee will be required to travel and work outdoors; may be exposed to dust, noise, uneven surfaces, weather extremes, hazardous heights, and confined spaces. Employee will be required to use appropriate safety gear equipment and components at a workbench or on a vehicle. Employee will also be required to use appropriate safety gear such as safety harnesses and respirators. As a statewide organization, DES adjusts to periods of fluctuating workload to successfully deliver projects. DES employees may be given temporary assignments on DES projects throughout the State as workload demands.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
