Position Summary:
The Master Maintenance Plumber is responsible for overseeing, diagnosing, and performing complex plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance across facilities. This role ensures all plumbing systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local, state, and federal codes. The Master Plumber also supervises junior plumbers and coordinates with other trades on multidisciplinary maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, drains, water heaters, and backflow preventers.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct inspections to ensure systems meet plumbing codes and safety standards.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform corrective actions on water supply lines, drainage systems, and related components.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and equipment service history.
- Oversee or train journeyman and apprentice plumbers, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety practices.
- Collaborate with electricians, HVAC technicians, and contractors as needed.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform after-hours repairs as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and local plumbing codes and regulations.
- Order parts, maintain plumbing inventory, and manage procurement as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or vocational training preferred.
- Valid Master Plumber License issued by the state or local authority.
- Minimum of 5 years of plumbing experience, including supervisory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and time management.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Skills:
- Backflow prevention certification.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional maintenance.
- Knowledge of water conservation and energy-efficient plumbing systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
