Position Overview:

We seek a detail-oriented and motivated Co-op Student to join our Regulatory Compliance and EHS team. This position offers hands-on experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, regulatory approvals (USDOT), and compliance-based training. The successful candidate will assist in the research, drafting, and revising work instructions, support regulatory documentation updates, and help modernize training delivery systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Support
    • Review and update work instructions and procedures to ensure alignment with ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) requirements.
    • Assist in internal gap assessments and audits related to system documentation and implementation.
    • Help track corrective and preventive actions for continual improvement initiatives.
  • USDOT Regulatory Documentation
    • Support the update to recent organizational name changes.
  • Training Automation & Modernization
    • Review current EHS and compliance training presentations.
    • Assist in converting static presentations into automated, self-guided formats using PowerPoint, Articulate, or similar platforms.
    • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to optimize training materials for clarity, accuracy, and time efficiency.
  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Support closing open Process Hazard Analysis criteria items across applicable systems and processes.
  • Help organize and maintain PHA documentation, including worksheets, action tracking, and stakeholder reviews.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to follow and apply formal document control procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards or EHS systems is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); 
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
