Founded by a father-daughter duo, Allen & Baughman, Attorneys at Law, L.L.C. has been serving Muskingum and the surrounding counties for twenty-four years. Allen & Baughman is a successful, high volume, general practice firm located in Zanesville, Ohio. The firm focuses on banking, real estate, estate planning, administration of estates, representation of small businesses, municipal law (including prosecution of misdemeanor offenses), landlord/tenant, adoption and family law. The firm also operates a real estate title agency where all attorneys become licensed title agents and employees have the opportunity to become skilled in supporting and processing real estate transactions and closings. Some of the firm are family; all of the firm is like a family. The office crew works hard but also takes time to enjoy themselves while doing so. Beyond the traditional work, the firm operates as a family unit, enjoying different health, wellness, and community events together.

Our Associate Attorney

The associate attorney will support and work directly with partners to support all practice areas of the firm. Associate attorneys will attend hearings, draft legal documents, and engage with clientele.  The associate attorney will assist firm attorneys with cases and will work to develop their practice and handle their own client files as well. If not already, the associate attorney will become a licensed title insurance agent. The firm’s attorneys will mentor, guide and assist in the associate’s legal skills and practice development. Experience is preferred for the associate attorney position.

Normal business hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, in person, Monday through Friday. Employees must be able/willing to commute to the physical office in Zanesville, Ohio for business hours.

Necessary Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes

  • Graduated with a Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school
  • Has either passed Ohio's bar or plans to sit for it at the next scheduled exam (documentation required)
  • Excellent research, writing, drafting and oral communication skills
  • Notary Public (or ability to obtain licensure within 30 days of employment)
  • Strong time management skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, knowledgeable and driven
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, work both independently and with others, and will possess strong people skills
  • Strong work ethic and keen attention to detail
