I really like being outside and learning about sustainability of Weber State University. Water conservation is big in Utah and I first hand got to see the technology and methods for this conservation.

More hands on experience and being able to actually work on more of the important projects.

Admissions Office Social Media Content Creator

What I liked

I have learned a lot about managing a professional social media account as well as using Adobe suite and other programs to create content and organize it in our content calendar.

What I wish was different

I have no complaints, honestly. The experience has been amazing. I've been able to learn about the inner workings of the university and how best to advertise all of Weber State's benefits to prospective students.

Advice

Keep looking for opportunities and make the most out of the internship experience by really investing yourself in your work. Interns can give any organization a fresh perspective, so don't be afraid to share your ideas! Interning really is a symbiotic relationship and you get what you give.

I loved that I was given general tasks and left to figure out how to accomplish them on my own. I have great leadership who are helpful and check in regularly.

What I wish was different

I really can't complain about anything, working at the MARS building has been a great learning experience and I'm glad I had the opportunity.

Advice

Even if you're not sure you want to do an internship, give it a shot. I didn't think I would enjoy what I've been doing nearly as much as I have. I'm glad I applied even though I didn't really want to.

I loved learning how to write a grant proposal for the research we are doing to receive funding.

What I wish was different

We are still in the middle of the project so I think as long as everything keeps going smooth, I have enjoyed the experience.

Advice

Taking the time to learn a new skill from a mentor with peers is a great opportunity to learn, gain experience, and expand your ideas. Research is a long process and takes a lot of team work. Be willing to work with your team to reach your goals. Ask lots of questions to make the most of your time with the people you are working with.
