Benefits, events, people at Visa are all great and top-quality, not to mention the competitive wage and the work that is done.
What I wish was different
This could've been in-person to enhance experience.
Advice
Get a direction before starting the internship, the team may not have anything for you, so do prior research.

Software Engineering Intern
May - August 2021 • Palo Alto, CA
What I liked
I really enjoyed the quality of work I was given, as well as the quality of mentorship I received. The work was really involved and interesting, and I was able to gain a lot out of it conceptually and practically. In addition my mentors were really caring and welcoming, and I am still in contact with them.
What I wish was different
The only thing I wish could have been different is having my internship experience in-person. Additionally I think having a more young and vibrant workplace culture could make the experience a lot more fun socially. The atmosphere definitely pushed me to work very hard.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is that you don't have to know everything going into your internship. The experience is meant for you to learn and grow from it. The most important thing you can do is go in with a really open mind and be ready for anything.

Software Engineering Intern
May - August 2019 • Austin, TX
What I liked
I really enjoyed my manager and mentor on my team. They were very flexible in the direction I wanted to take my internship experience, wanted me to gain as much as I could out of my summer at Visa. I learned quite a bit about full stack development, and had some great mentorship that made me confident that I could do a software engineering job full time.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have been in a different location, and maybe that I could have stayed in contact with more of the other interns that I met.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is never be afraid to ask for help. The reason internship programs exist is so that you can gain experience from professionals who have been working for years. Don't forget that your mentors want you to ask questions so you can improve and get over your learning curves.
