What I liked

I liked the flexibility and agile work environment. Everyone was nice and willing to help you when you needed it.

What I wish was different

I wish I got more insight into HRBP role. We worked on our projects and presentation for most of the Summer but it would have been great to experience the day to day of an HR Business Partner.

Customer Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Englewood Cliffs, NJ

What I liked

I was given independence to manage my project and received support from across several functions.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more formal training of software in the beginning. My fellow interns and I depended on each other a lot at first.

Advice

Don't be afraid to reach out to other people! Even if it was an informal chat about your personal development or anything you're interested in, everyone is open to meeting with you!

Skin Cleansing Packaging Engineering Co-Op

January - June 2017 • Trumbull, CT

What I liked

Unilever is a company that is paving the way for sustainability with packaging. Because they're such a large company that owns so many brands, it is ideal for them to start taking sustainability initiatives under their wing and run with it. At Unilever I had the chance to understand what a global packaging role is like, and also understand the pressure of demanding timelines as well as how to collaborate with co-workers and suppliers. Unilever has so many opportunities for their employers to learn about various things, that it helped me become a well-rounded engineer.

What I wish was different

There could have been more chances to travel and understand how Unilever manufacturing sites worked, I felt like traveling on my other co-op helped me gain a lot more knowledge.

Advice

Everything is very fast paced, so it's smart to stay focused and organized. Sometimes it can get stressful juggling everything, but you have to learn how to say no every once and awhile, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed.

What I liked

Unilever gives you a real project to work on throughout the summer and at the end you present your results to management. So, you have an actual impact on the business!

What I wish was different

Not all positions were at the headquarters in New Jersey, but most people who relocated were happy with their experience.

Advice

Be yourself! Sometimes your soft skills are just as important as your hard skills.
