Thomson Reuters

Customer Service Intern

May - August 2019 • Eagan, MN

What I liked

I enjoyed this role because it allowed me to do different projects throughout the summer. Thomson Reuters's internship program is very sophisticated I would say in the sense that they are there to help you learn a lot. They encourage you to network with anyone, to learn about their jobs and what you might be interested in, in the future. The environment is very welcoming and encouraging, it was a great place to work.

What I wish was different

If anything I would have liked more projects than I had, but the ones I had I did learn from and was able to present to managers which was good profession presentation practice.

Advice

Having so many people and resources within my reach was very exciting and useful. I did a fair amount of networking but if anything I wish I had done more. Networking as an intern looked like informal interviews and comfortable conversations, for the interns benefit to help them learn about different jobs and roles that exist. This was incredibly helpful for me so I would encourage people to take advantage of situations like this, or if they are looking for a place like this, start talking with your classmates or people around you!

Content Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Eagan, MN

What I liked

Everyone was very excited and happy to work with me and the other intern and gave us as many opportunities as possible.

What I wish was different

I wish there would have been more of us or we had met the other FindLaw interns sooner than over halfway through. I also wish we had more time to work with Facebook ads.

Advice

Get to know the other interns, go to the events and make as many connections as possible (over coffee, of course!)

Software Test Engineer

January - September 2018 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

Nice, helpful co-workers.

What I wish was different

Requirements for stories did not always match with what was developed because stories were not updated. This caused confusion in testing.

Advice

Get to know everyone. There were a number of systems that each person had varying experience using.

Inside Sales Intern

May - August 2018 • Carrollton, TX

What I liked

I loved the people that a worked with, the other interns as well as the full time workers of Thomson Reuters! I also loved the networking experience the internship provided. We had the opportunity to meet with several different directors as well as different operations of the company: finance, marketing, IT, and user experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have gotten to spend more time with other interns in different departments.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions and put yourself out there! The more you were willing to be open to your manager and other full time workers, the more you got out of the experience.
