Sales/Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I liked that I wasn't sitting in a cubicle or a desk all day I was actually out in the stores ringing people out, selling the product, and also learning about managerial functions.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've had a manager throughout the entirety of the internship to consult and go to for help.

Advice

Ask questions, don't be afraid to bug your store staff whenever you need help with selling products in the store or tinting paint.

Administrative Services Management Intern

June - August 2019 • York, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed that they did a project that was given to all of the interns. The fact that what we were actually working on could and was used by the actual company made it worthwhile to do.

I wish that I would’ve been able to communicate and work with other interns more.

Advice

It was an amazing experience. Even though it showed me what I didn’t want for my future it was still a huge learning experience and I loved it.

Sales and Management Intern

May - August 2019 • West Chester Township, OH

What I liked

I liked the way that I was trained and that I always had a manager, assistant manager or full-timer there with me while I was working. Everyone was very willing to help me out with customer questions I was entirely sure how to answer or with product suggestions. I also enjoyed learning about the managerial side of the business operations.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been more down time for me to take all the product knowledge tests. I also think that taking the tests earlier in the internship would have been more beneficial. I had rode along with two sales representatives which I also enjoyed very much and would've enjoyed the opportunity to do a few more ride-alongs.

Advice

Be prepared to be on your feet for 8 hours a day and to work hard. The first couple of weeks you need to be prepared to pick-up on product knowledge quickly. It is a very retail heavy position and you will be dealing with all kinds of customers.

Management intern

June - August 2019 • Shrewsbury, MA

What I liked

I learned a lot about how a business is run on a day to day basis which was something that I did not have much experience with previously. I was able to learn about how a global company manages their people and resources effectively.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been less sales focused and more focused on management and projects. I did not have much say in the intern project so it was not a great fit for me but I still learned about myself through the project.

Advice

I would say stay motivated, the more people you can meet and network with the better experience you will have. I learned a lot just by talking to people, from the city manager to the truck drivers, I was able to learn something different about the company and see a different perspective.

Management/Sales Intern

June - August 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I like how I was able to get right in to learning about the company and doing what other employees do on a daily basis.

What I wish was different

It would of been nice if we could of done more tours of facilities to get a better understanding of the entire operations aspect of the company.

Advice

Take any internship you can find that is relevant to your skills, where you can gain experience. It will then be a launching for that company or another internship. I was lucky as a Sophomore to get this internship, now the possibilities are endless for my Junior year.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

Working with the city manager as they were very accessible. Learning more about the business on a deeper level. Working on a professional business presentation within a team, while working day to day in store. The pay was better than minimum wage which is good for an internship.

What I wish was different

Getting stuck with a certain store manager who was difficult to work with for the entire ten weeks. The actual training binder the interns go through within the store level is very useless and unnecessary.

Advice

Soak up as much information as you can from the city manager as they know a lot about the business. When working on the internship problem/presentation don't be afraid to think outside the box and make it very unique.
