The Salvation Army Camps Happyland & Tomahawk

About The Salvation Army Camps Happyland & Tomahawk

With locations in Hedgesville, West Virginia (Camp Tomahawk) and Richardsville, Virginia (Camp Happyland), located less than 2 hours from Washington D.C., Salvation Army Potomac Camps offer an exciting summer destination for more than 2,000 youth from communities that the Salvation Army serves in the Washington, D.C. metro area, Maryland and the Virginias.

Children and teenage boys and girls ages 6 – 17 attend one-week sessions to learn about their faith through a safe and enjoyable camping experience. From music conservatory, arts and crafts, competitive team sports, teen leadership initiatives, outdoor education, STEAM, to spiritual formations, the goal of Salvation Army Potomac Camps is an all-inclusive outdoor ministry that strengthens the body, mind and spirit.

Through funding and our participation in the Department of Education's USDA Summer Food Service Program, Salvation Army Potomac Camps provides three nutritious meals daily along with healthy snacks and beverages. All programs are proudly accredited by the ACA (American Camp Association) and member of CCCA (Christian Camp & Conference Association).
