I enjoyed starting off strictly observing meetings, operations, and learning the basics. I was eventually given the opportunity to accept a large amount of responsibility and be trusted to be the on-site superintendent for a construction operation.
What I wish was different
Spending more time in the field at the beginning of my employment so that I could physically see, feel, and touch what I was learning in class and the office.
Advice
Spend the most time as you can talking with the tradesmen and learn the intricacies of construction operations. They will be able to teach you tips, tricks, and terminology which will help you become acclimated with the industry.
