Supply Chain Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Everett, WA

What I liked

I was given huge projects with 5 year values of millions and millions of dollars. I also absolutely love the aerospace industry so it was amazing to be work a few hundred yards from the largest aircraft factory in the world and be allowed to talk to nearly anyone in the company to learn more about their job focuses.

What I wish was different

More company sponsored intern meet and greets. Other than that everything from the people to the work given was outstanding.

Advice

It's important to work hard, but if you want to exceed expectations then you must also work smart and fix situations before they become problems or to increase efficiency even when unprompted.

I also liked how they showed us the products of the company and allowed us to take tours of the manufacturing facilities.

Electrical Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

Boeing was an awesome experience. I was able to work as a Facilities Plant Intern (Electrical Engineering Intern) so I got to go many places on-campus in St. Louis and meet many different people from many different teams. Everyone on my team was incredibly helpful and honest about everything from salary, to best places to visit in St. Louis, and of course anything I needed help with. I was given several small projects to complete and a capstone project with one other intern. These were all challenging and resume worthy.

What I wish was different

While there were many intern events, the on-boarding process was pretty awful. The company was going through a major HR change and it was hard for many interns to get into contact with their managers and HR members. Experience per intern is definitely team by team and while I had a great experience with my team, I know many interns who did not have the same experience.

Advice

Network as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask to see other parts of Boeing (BR&T was particularly cool). It's a huge company that encompasses many different jobs so explore as much as you can.
