Special Connections (Special Needs) Ministry

About Special Connections (Special Needs) Ministry

The Special Connections (Special Needs) Ministry is based out of Briarwood Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Birmingham, Alabama. Primarily, we teach Sunday school lessons to our church members that have disabilities during our Sunday and Wednesday service times. By providing individualized accommodations and modifications for each of these church members with disabilities, we facilitate inclusive opportunities for these church members with disabilities to grow in their faith. In addition, we provide numerous opportunities for our families including dinners honoring the Mothers and Fathers, respite services, Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp (Camp Briarwood), and more!

“The Special Connections Ministry at Briarwood Presbyterian Church is conducting profound work that benefits the lives of its members and the surrounding community. Here, working under Mr. Michael Johnson, you will assist those with disabilities and their families. Some of the services for this community population include Bible lessons, Christian-based summer activities, respite care, and resource connections. If you’re looking to create a positive impact while working directly with families and their family members with disabilities, the Special Connections Ministry is a wonderful place to be. While growing your Christian spirit, you can also serve a specialized population that has unique needs and build rewarding experiences. In working with the Special Connections Ministry, you will find a supportive, wholesome environment, a superb mentor and supervisor, and an amazing chance to aid others in earnest. ”
