A member of the Missouri Valley Conference, SIU athletics currently sponsors 17 sports—eight for men and nine women—in NCAA-sanctioned competition. The sports include football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming and diving, cross country, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, volleyball, and women's soccer.
