Human Resources Intern

January 2022 • Santa Cruz, CA

What I liked

My time at SCCB was an exceedingly enriching experience. I loved the opportunity of working in the office among so many diverse and seasoned professionals. The internship felt incredibly personalized as leaders of varying departments all took the time to meet with me one of one to explore my compatibility with their sector of the organization. I feel that SCCB went above and beyond to understand me as a potential member of their team and help me understand where my strengths and interests would be best applied. Prior to the internship, I felt unsure about my career path, this experience has given me the clarity I have been looking for.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have spent more time in the program but needed to return to school to complete my master's degree. I look forward to returning and continuing work with this impressive and innovative organization.

Advice

I would advise future candidates to come curious and not be afraid to ask questions. SCCB offered amazing opportunities to connect with individuals throughout the organization, but it is up to the intern candidate to truly appreciate and take advantage of those opportunities. Those individuals I worked with were always more than happy to answer questions and their answers were backed by years of diverse industry experience. There is a lot of great brains to pick at SCCB, so I would advise candidates to take advantage of the knowledgeable individuals they are working with.
