Advice

Risk management is the most critical part of trading - making sure capital is conserved and not at large risk of being lost naturally makes it much more likely for a trade to be profitable.

What I liked

This was my first professional experience in the finance industry. I am an atypical case as I actually found the company through twitter and made conversation with the CEO to see if I'd be a good fit. So, off the bat, I like that the company was willing to give me a chance even though I didn't go about the hiring process the "normal" way. I enjoyed all the other guys that were in here as well. Everyone is on the same mission so having a good group of guys doing the same work as you puts you in the right headspace. I learned a lot about the business but moreover received personal mentoring on how to be a better version of myself, which is invaluable coming from someone who has the results I want in my career. As the saying goes, I don't take advice from people less successful than me.

What I wish was different

nothing

Advice

Be ready to work hard. It a fun environment but remember the mission. You will get along with the other guys and work together, and make valuable connections for down the road.

What I liked

This internship is the closest job you could have to being an advisor. Great hands on approach really allows you to grow and learn what it takes to make it in this business. Very strong office camaraderie that allows for you to work as a team and compete against your peers as well.

What I wish was different

I was part of the fall semester intern class so I only had 3 days of work a week. With such great hands on learning I do wish that I could have worked more days.

Advice

Work hard and try to learn as much as you can. Its a great experience and opportunity.

What I liked

Great way to learn about the wealth management business. You get to work directly with the CEO and get to see a lot of insight into actual logistics of the business, not just the stuff you learn in school. Great way to improve on your sales skills since you spend about half of your day cold calling clients (the other half is spent either trading or helping with analysis). Sometimes we'll go out and actually meet the clients in person which is fun. Also get a good introduction into technical analysis based trading.

Advice

If you can, try to make it 3 days per week instead of 2, because the days can get pretty long.

What I liked

Working at Quantumvest was a great experience. Mr. Roncancio expects the interns to be punctual, self-motivated, and determined. Interns are tasked with reaching out to prospective clients, creating pitch decks, and conducting research on various equities. In addition, interns are brought to in-person client meetings that are held out of the office. Throughout the whole process, Mr. Roncancio is there to offer guidance and answer any questions you may have. He is big on bringing energy to the office every day, so expect an upbeat environment. Overall, through this experience, I gained a lot of knowledge about the financial markets, sales, client interaction, and more

What I liked

I liked how we went through a trading course where we learned different trading strategies. The course taught me a tremendous amount about the market and what to watch out for. I really enjoyed working with other interns while being immersed in the financial market. I learned how to talk to clients here at Quantumvest. I learned how to recognize trends and different key levels for the market. I learned various trading strategies to help both clients and myself when trading. I enjoyed talking to clients and being able to have real world experience. It is drastically different from the class room and the stakes are higher and it helps to learn from the best.

Advice

One piece of advice is to continue to ask questions as the CEO is there to help you learn and grow as a person. He is spending his valuable time with you so don't waste your time while you are here.

What I liked

During the internship, I really enjoyed learning what it takes to be successful in the advisory business. Learning about portfolio creation and analysis was a very interesting part of the internship. Interns participate in a stock trading simulation where you compete amongst each other, and in order to be successful and competitive in the game interns need to have full understanding about how to analyze market trends. Also, Austin Roncancio is a great teacher when it comes to teaching us about relationship building and client interaction, a lot of the reason why I have gotten this far in this internship is heavily due to his guidance.

What I wish was different

Hearing about past interns experience of the internship.

Advice

Be ready to work hard, and be coachable. It will be worth it, but if you are unwilling to put in the work then you will not succeed. In the end, it will be.
