Point Quest Education is a NPS that offers a 200-day program for special education students with challenging cognitive, behavioral and emotional needs. The school serves students ages 6-22 years of age with a student to staff ratio of 5:1. Point Quest teams effectively with parents, school districts, and local agencies with a program that focuses on each student’s needs in the areas of cognition, social, emotional, behavioral and academic.
All curriculum is based on research and aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The educational and mental health programs are supported by a behavior intervention system, which emphasizes positive behavioral interventions aimed at empowering students to become more responsible for their own actions and to make choices that will lead to success and fulfillment.
Point Quest Pediatrics is our NPA behavior team. This team works with district and classroom staff to effectively implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) developed by through the IEP process. The behaviorist evaluates the environment, teaching strategies and positive changing environmental conditions, we seek to permanently change the way students seek to get their needs met
Point Quest utilizes a variety of behavior intervention techniques, which may include an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), antecedent interventions, functional communication training, incidental teaching, discrete trial training and task analysis. Other research-based techniques used include but are not limited to Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), social stories, and Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped Children (TEACCH).
