What I liked

The Customer Support Representative position is held at Volvo Cars USA’s Headquarters in Rockleigh, NJ. Their department is blends directly into that of the corporate workers for Volvo. I feel like I am part of the client-company. The work itself is also very challenging as it requires social skills/empathy to help customers and also strong technical prowess to learn about past/current/future Volvo vehicles.

Advice

To network with as many people as possible! I first learned about Percepta at the Ramapo College Career Fair during Spring ‘19. Percepta was not as populated as some of the other tables. Still, I made sure to introduce myself to them, that I was interested in the Automotive Industry, and to leave them my resume. I also visited the Volvo job stand as well and noticed the line was very long. Later on, I would learn that Volvo outsourced to Percepta and their employees work directly in Volvo’s office. I am also seeing that Percepta employees have chances to become part of Volvo Cars USA as well. The reason I am sharing this is because I think it is important to network with everyone as you do not know what possibilities it can open up for you in life. I desire to work in the automotive industry. I have applied directly to companies like BMW NA, Audi, and Mercedes, but have been turned down. Because I took advantage of resources like the career fair and networked with everyone there, I am now a full time employee inside one of the leading Automotive Manufacturers.
