Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

It was a great experience with very impactful work. I was thrown straight into the deep end on the first day of my internship, and I learned a lot. The program is very well organized with tonnes of fun events as well as learning experiences.

What I wish was different

Approval processes sometimes take longer than you would hope, such as access to certain tables and repositories. Its understandable, but slightly frustrating when you're completely blocked by it.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, but make sure you definitely cannot answer the question yourself before you take it to someone else.

What I wish was different

Nothing, this internship was the best experience I’ve had.

Software Engineering Intern

What I liked

Large internship program which the company invests a lot in. Ability to learn new things every day. Open campus structure to promote meetings across teams.

What I wish was different

Many teams are content maintaining rather than progressing. The payments space is one of hot and growing competition; PayPal needs the same fire as its competitors.

Advice

Make the most of your time there: there are a wealth of resources and smart people--so tap into them!
