DO NOT USE - Old Dominion University

Front

April 2020 • Norfolk, VA

What I liked

I like that I can focus on my school work and not have to be in a stressful environment. I like and appreciate that I am in an environment in which it is laid back but also professional and I am learning not only work/ professional skills but character skills for personal growth as well.

What I wish was different

I wish the pay was more competitive or having the opportunity to get holiday bonuses or something that can be beneficial to the students and school. The students would be happy with the pay and happy students with better incentives allows for a happy school.

Advice

One piece of advice I could give about this experience is to add every shift to your calendar as soon as you get it and to plan ahead if you have to miss a shift. Have someone ready to fill in for you. I also would say to use the time wisely and make the most of it. For example, when I am done with my homework (I always get it done 2 weeks to a month in advance), I have been working on the book I have been writing for a year or so and the time allows me to be able to write more but the environment is also quiet enough where I can focus.

Advice

Orientation Leader

June 2022 • Norfolk, VA

What I liked

I liked that I was able to let people know why I have and take pride in my university and help them ease into the start of their college careers.

What I wish was different

I wish that some of the superior positions held listened to our concerns more so that things would run more smoothly.

Advice

I would advise going into that job with an open mind because you never know who or what you might experience.
